Myriam Matos holds her bachelor’s degree in psychology, magna cum laude, and her Juris Doctor, both from the University of Puerto Rico. She went on to receive her LL.M. in Employment and Labor Law in a consortium program offered by The George Washington University and Georgetown University.
Upon accomplishing her GW/Georgetown Masters degree, she clerked for the Hon. Hiram Sánchez Martínez of the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals and was later assigned to the Secretariat of the Judicial Conference of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court.
She was Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Puerto Rico, teaching labor and employment law, and continues to lecture as a frequent speaker for organizations such as the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce and the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). She also provides in-house training for human resources personnel of the firm’s corporate clients. While her practice often finds her providing advice and legal representation to large corporate clients, she is conscious that small business is the backbone of the economy and that too often their rights are not upheld in the manner they deserve. Because of such conviction, she has made a personal commitment to always be available for that sector.
She is admitted to the Puerto Rico bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. She is a member of the Bar Association of Puerto Rico and of the Federal Bar Association. She is also a past president of the Association of Labor Relations Practitioners and Past President of the Santurce Rotary Club. She is also a Fellow of the American Bar Association.
Besides her native Spanish language, she speaks English fluently. Her main practice area is Labor and Employment Law and Litigation.
