Born in Madrid, Spain, he attended the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez and obtained his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in political science and his Juris Doctor, magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras. Upon graduation, he was admitted to the Puerto Rico bar, to the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico and to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Mr. Puig was member and contributor of the University of Puerto Rico Law Review and co-authored “A Statistical Analysis of The Supreme Court, 1990 Term,” University of Puerto Rico Law Review, 1992. He started his legal career as an associate to the late, former Puerto Rico Supreme Court Justice, Lino Saldaña, where he specialized in Civil Rights litigation in State and Federal courts.

In his practice, Mr. Puig combines the rigorous study of the Law, level-headed analysis and litigation skills to advance the interest and position of the client. Such combination is what has resulted in the consistent favorable results of the cases he has been involved in at the trial level as well as on appeal.  

 Mr. Puig considers that teamwork defines our firm and that constant open peer review is a necessity for the type of work we do. 

 Throughout his career, Mr. Puig has been an active participant in several leading cases (Ortiz-Feliciano v.Toledo-Davila, 175 F.3d 37, C.A.1 (Puerto Rico), 1999; Herrera v. Davila, 272 F.Supp.2d 154 D.Puerto Rico,2003; Tejada Batista v. Fuentes Agostini, 87 F.Supp.2d 72, 258 F.Supp.2d 18, 263 F.Supp.2d 321, 267 F.Supp.2d 156, D.Puerto Rico,2003; Rivera v. S.L.G. Diaz, 165 D.P.R. 408 (P.R., 2005).
